Orlando is great for shopping.

Whether you are a bargain hunter or a luxury-label fanatic, you can find temptation at Orlando’s malls.

Here’s our guide…

Orlando Vineland Premium Outlets

The closest major outlet mall to the majority of our vacation homes, Orlando Vineland Premium Outlets is located just off the I-4, north of Celebration.

This huge outdoor mall is within a half-hour drive of all our homes.  It has a wide range of stores – from large Nike, Gap and Forever 21 stores to more high-end names like Bottega Veneta, Tod’s and Marni.  There’s also a Disney Character Warehouse outlet store which is well worth a browse.

Although it might not be the glossiest of malls, there are some decent shopping and eating available here.

Orlando Premium Outlets on International Drive

Twenty minutes further north on the I-4 you’ll find a second Premium Outlets Mall on International Drive (just north of the Orlando Eye and Ripley’s Believe it or Not).

There’s a range of brands here.  Larger stores include Neiman Marcus Last Call and Saks Fifth Avenue Off Fifth.  Plus you’ll find a good range of the big US brands – stores like DKNY, Calvin Klein, Victoria’s Secret, Coach, Polo Ralph Lauren, Nike, Gap and Forever 21.  There is also a Disney store here.

The Mall at Millennia

The Mall at Millennia is just five minutes further north from the Premium Outlets on International Drive, on the other side of the Turnpike, but its stores and restaurants are a little more up-market.

A mall’s anchor stores give you a pretty good indication of the type of consumer it is aiming for and The Mall at Millennia anchor stores include the high-end department stores Neiman Marcus and Bloomingdales.

If you were in any doubt about whether to dress up in your finest before shopping here, the tenancy of Versace, Prada, Tiffany’s, Gucci, Chanel and Cartier should convince you to put on your Sunday best!  Every September, the Mall at Millennia runs its own fashion week and this year (2016) visitors will be treated to shows and in-store events and promotions through Monday, September 12 – Sunday, September 18.

The Florida Mall

The Florida Mall turned 30 in 2016, and to celebrate began a major facelift on July 25, due to be completed in spring 2017.

We love to combine an afternoon at this mall with a trip to Gatorland – Orlando’s alligator themed attraction.  The two are fifteen minutes apart up Highway 441 from Kissimmee and are both half-day excursions.  Stores at The Florida Mall are missing the high-end draws, instead you can expect Old Navy, Abercombie & Fitch, the Disney Store and H&M, and the mid-range department stores Dillards, Sears and JC Penneys.

But it does offer a good family-friendly shopping experience: there are plenty of eating options, two children’s play areas and we’ve heard very good reports about the Crayola Experience store too.
